Class Descriptions

We offer 3 main levels of study for a comprehensive yoga education, as well as classes structured to help you make steady progress:

INTRODUCTION TO YOGA

This is the perfect way to start yoga!  Based on a 5 week rotational program, you will learn a variety of poses and practices to calm the mind, and relieve stress. The Course is designed to get you comfortable and confident to progress to Beginners classes

28 Postures and 2 Pranayamas.

BEGINNERS

This class uses the same syllabus as the Introduction to Yoga, but moves at a quicker pace and starts to incorporate the use of Vinyasa to build upper body strength, create heat, and improve mental focus.  As in all of our classes, postures and techniques are modified, if necessary, to ensure all students are able to participate and benefit.

28 Postures and 2 Pranayamas.

BEGINNERS/GENERAL

These classes are taught based on the Beginner level for all of the asana groups, except for the weekly theme, e.g. Twists and Backbends.  For this part of the class, the teacher will introduce some poses from the next level, modified if necessary, to help you make progress and to add more variety to your practice.

GENERAL

As you progress in Asana, the postures become more challenging, but also more fun!  At this level we are studying stronger versions of all the asana groups: Standing Poses, Arm Balancing, Forward Bends, Twists, Back Bends, etc, being aware that we always work according to our capacity!  You need to be competent with Beginners before attending this class. If you are not sure, start with Beginners first and progress to the Beginners/General.

42 Postures and 9 Pranayamas.

GENERAL/ADVANCED

These classes are taught based on the Genersl level for all of the asana groups, except for the weekly theme, e.g. Twists and Backbends. For this part of the class, the teacher will introduce some poses from the next level, modified if necessary, to help you make progress and to add more variety to your practice.

ADVANCED

At this Level we study Handstand, Forearm Balance, Headstand (and variations), plus much stronger versions of the other asana groups.  You must be competent with and understand the techniques of Intermediate level before jumping in over your head.  This is an advanced class working on advanced postures and super super fun!

60 Postures and 9 Pranayamas.

RESTORATIVE

A wonderful class for those days when you are feeling under the weather or just plain exhausted. This is a very gentle class with little effort needed. All you need is the small effort needed to get to the studio and you will receive the benefits.
